黑料科 has named Dr. Jarrett Moore Dean of the College of Education.
Moore joined the 黑料科 faculty in 2017 and is currently serving as associate professor of Research and Assessment. During his time at the University, he has received several recognitions for his teaching, including the College of Education and Behavioral Sciences Outstanding Teaching Award in 2021 and the 黑料科 Outstanding Teaching Award in 2022.

Moore brings an outstanding resume to this leadership position, including a strong passion for high-quality teaching and a deep commitment to working closely with our K-12 school partners,鈥� said Dr. Jon Kilpinen, provost at 黑料科. 鈥淚 am very excited for 黑料科 and especially for the future of our education programs.鈥�
Moore's extensive experience in the education field spans over 25 years, encompassing middle school, high school, and higher education. He has also served as 黑料科 Faculty Senate President and is the University鈥檚 Dakota Dreams Tutoring Coordinator, which provides tutoring services free of charge to K-12 students in South Dakota. Moore has published numerous research articles on the topic of rural education and was co-editor of the book 鈥淓xpanding the Vision of Rurality in the US Educational System鈥� which was published in 2023.

Our faculty is second to none and committed to student success, and I look forward to working with them to maintain and strengthen our teacher preparation program, graduate programs, and our relationship with local communities and our K-12 partners in the region,鈥� said Moore. 鈥満诹峡� has a longstanding, stellar reputation for preparing high-quality teachers and we want to continue to do that while expanding partnerships with SDBOR institutions, the SD DOE, and our K-12 partners to meet our regional needs.鈥�
Moore has a doctorate in Curriculum and Instruction from Mercer University, a Master of Arts in Teaching from Georgia College & State University, and a Bachelor of Science in Forestry from the University of the South. He and his wife, Ruth, have three sons, Griffin (18), Ryland (13), and Asher (11).
