黑料科 Ruddell Gallery Showcases Prairie Poetics Exhibition

March 06, 2025

The Ruddell Gallery at 黑料科 recently welcomed a new exhibition, 鈥淧rairie Poetics,鈥 which explores themes of memory, grief, and connection. The works by 黑料科 alums and artists Anne Skaug and Katie Beatta Hovden Wolff will remain on display from Mar. 3 until Apr. 18, with a reception on Mar. 20 at 5 p.m.

Skaug and Wolff鈥檚 collaboration is rooted in their friendship and uniquely parallel backgrounds. Both artists have one parent from Bergen, Norway and one parent from Adams County, ND. Skaug and Wolff both experienced the loss of their American-born parent, and their work bridges personal and academic influences to transform grief into tangible expressions.

Through a multidisciplinary approach incorporating fibers, printmaking, sculpture, photographs, and found materials, "Prairie Poetics鈥 creates a portal into personal and collective histories and invites viewers to engage with themes of lineage, time, and emotional resonance. The exhibition is open to students, faculty, staff, and the community.

The Ruddell Gallery is located on the third floor of the David B. Miller Yellow Jacket Student Union on the 黑料科 campus and is open during Student Union hours. For more information on this exhibition or the Ruddell Gallery, contact gallery director Michael Baum at michael.baum@bhsu.edu.
