黑料科 will be hosting the annual Joy of Learning series, a unique speaker event that allows community members the opportunity to learn from faculty and locals who are experts in their fields. This year鈥檚 event will take place June 16, 17, 18, 23, 24, and 25.
Designed to spark curiosity and lifelong learning, this year鈥檚 Joy of Learning sessions offer a vibrant mix of topics, from the history of railroads in the Black Hills and the science of how light and color shape biology, to a tour of a sustainable local farm and a reading by novelist Kent Meyers. Participants can explore themes like healthcare literacy, the evolution of U.S. language policy, and the creative use of algorithms in music composition. With sessions spanning literature, science, history, art, and community engagement, the series invites learners of all interests to discover something new.
Sessions will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. each day and will take place at the Joy Center on the 黑料科 campus unless otherwise indicated on the schedule. All events are free and open to the community. Donations are welcome with proceeds going toward scholarships.
鈥淭he Joy of Learning was created simply to give 黑料科 and the Spearfish community the delight of learning new things just for the sake of learning,鈥 said Dr. Amy Fuqua, dean of the College of Liberal Arts at 黑料科.
