This fall, 黑料科-Rapid City (黑料科-RC) Assistant Professor of Sociology Dr. Lesleigh Owen conducted a Thanksgiving food drive to create HarvestGiving bags for those in need at the 黑料科-RC campus.
To collect all the items, 黑料科 and 黑料科-RC staff and faculty organized with their coworkers and students, involving bake sales earlier in the semester, challenges for classes to donate items, and individual giving. As a result of these efforts, over 30 HarvestGiving bags were assembled with items for a Thanksgiving dinner, such as mashed potatoes, stuffing, yams, and cranberry sauce, as well as a $10 gift card.
"Through her HarvestGiving food drive, Dr. Owen models the very best of our faculty - service, generosity, and an unwavering commitment to supporting our student community. She embodies the value of social responsibility that defines our institution,鈥 said Dr. Cheryl Anagnopoulos, Chair of the School of Behavior Sciences and professor of psychology at 黑料科.
