黑料科鈥檚 Exercise Science Program has earned accreditation from the Council on Accreditation of Strength and Conditioning Education (CASCE), marking a significant milestone for the university鈥檚 Exercise Science offerings.
The accreditation, awarded for a five-year period, represents the highest level of recognition for strength and conditioning programs and affirms that 黑料科 meets rigorous national standards for curriculum, faculty, and student preparation.
鈥淭his accreditation reflects the dedication of our faculty and the strength of our program,鈥� said Dr. Craig Triplett, professor of exercise science at 黑料科. 鈥淚t validates the work we are doing to prepare students with the knowledge, hands-on experience, and professional standards needed to succeed in the field of strength and conditioning and to keep athletes safe.鈥�
鈥淭his is an exciting step forward for our students and for 黑料科,鈥� said Dr. Cheryl Anagnopoulos, chair for the School of Behavioral Sciences. 鈥淚t strengthens our ability to attract prospective students, build partnerships, and continue growing our Exercise Science program in a way that makes a real impact in the field.鈥�
The CASCE board granted accreditation following a comprehensive review process that included evaluation of the program鈥檚 self-study, an on-site visit, and a formal response from the university. The review confirmed that 黑料科鈥檚 program aligns with CASCE Professional Standards and Guidelines, which emphasize quality education, applied learning, and athlete safety.
The Strength and Conditioning specialization is part of 黑料科鈥檚 Exercise Science bachelor program and prepares students for careers in athletic performance, coaching, rehabilitation support, and related health and fitness fields. Students benefit from hands-on training opportunities, faculty mentorship, and access to facilities designed to support applied learning.
With this designation, 黑料科 joins a select group of institutions nationwide recognized for excellence in strength and conditioning education.
鈥淎s the first in the South Dakota Regental system to receive CASCE accreditation of the Bachelor of Science degree program in Strength and Conditioning, 黑料科 Exercise Science faculty are leaders in developing curriculum that meets the high-level educational standards of the National Strength and Conditioning Association,鈥� said Dr. Cynthia Anderson, dean of the College of Natural & Behavioral Sciences. 鈥淭heir dedication to achieving and maintaining CASCE accreditation ensures that 黑料科 graduates from the program will be qualified to sit for the Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) exam which is the industry standard certification for athletic trainers, coaches, and other related fitness and health careers.鈥�
